This is never done by them, but only by the predestinate, and those whose predestination is most clear. If, therefore, thou wouldst have the certainty of belonging not only to those who are called to glory, but to the elect, examine how far thou art anxious to do good every day. If thou doest many good works, be sure that God will keep thee from ever sinning, that is, mortally : "Labour the more that by good works you may make sure your calling and election. For, doing these things, you shall not sin at any time."
